"As I Am"
36" x 24" Oil on Linen
Anthony A. González
This is my latest painting. I took a video of it's progression. I am in the process of editing it and will have it up as soon as I complete it.
I have a new model and this is my first painting of her. I think she has a quiet look that is appealing and suggestive. This is the concept I was looking for. I will post the finished painting when completed. Comments or questions are welcomed.
My wife and I visited the MEAM museum while in Barcelona. It is a very good museum for representational figurative works of art. While we were there we watched a flamenco dancer and singers put on a show which was very unique and enjoyable.
This is 'After the Dance'. I wanted to paint the model in her costume after her dance. Color harmony is the key to the painting as I see it, as well as her pose. Attitude might be "I did it and I did it well." or it might be "I am glad to be done dancing".
Her 'at ease' pose lends the story credibility as she sinks into the chair, thoughts on her performance and feeling the joy of being done.

I wanted her eyes to get your attention, Not much else is going on. The eyes are the entire conversation... yet, what is the meaning of the soft lavender flowers at the same level as her eyes? Is she looking at the person that gave them to her? What is she thinking? The story is in her eyes.
You may read what she is saying just with her look.
