The Artist

Anthony A. González is a native of San Antonio, Texas, painting professionally for more than 40 years. Working from his studio in the Texas Hill Country, he explores the full range of traditional subjects — landscape, portraiture, still life — but his passion is the feminine figure.

His oil paintings are representational yet mysterious, capturing not merely the likeness of a model but the subtlety of her expression, attitude, and inner life. The result is work that evokes the great European figurative masters while remaining entirely his own.

"Each model has a uniqueness of her own. With form and color, my goal is to capture her expression and attitude and convey that to the viewer."

González has received portrait commissions from San Antonio mayors Howard Peak and Nelson Wolff. His work has appeared in North Light Books, American Art Collector Magazine, and Visual Language Contemporary Fine Art Magazine, and has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
