Anthony A. González works from his studio located north of San Antonio, Texas. Anthony's works are representational, primarily in oils and for his subject matter, the female figure. He also accepts commissions for the portraits; most notables have been mayors of San Antonio as well as private portraits. He has traveled and studied in Madrid Spain, but much of his technique is self-taught. He has given workshops in and around San Antonio as well as Spain and Italy.
"The general focus of my artwork is representational, and my technical approach is intuitive with a primary emphasis on the subject of the feminine. I focus on the expression, attitude, form, color and costume as each of these are the inspiration for my works. An emotional connection or identification with the figure is what my paintings are meant to convey. It is my hope that the viewer will also identify and connect with the subject of my work."
“Every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not of the sitter.” Oscar Wilde
