FG1750 Defiance

In this pose I found that the expression in this model was just right for the story line of a peasant girl that is out to find water or wine.  I would like to think it was wine.

She is not your average peasant girl; she has an assuredness that defies the typical peasant girl and yet, there is a coyness about her.

After she finds the wine, I can see her going to the village for a night of dancing and fun.

I have entitled this painting "Defiance".

Segrada Familia Cathedral in Barcelona

While in Barcelona we visited the Segrada Familia Cathedral. It is amazing and very thought provoking.  Designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926) construction of Sagrada Família started in 1882 and Gaudí became involved in 1883 taking over the project combining Gothic and curvilinear Art Nouveau forms. At the time of Gaudi's death in 1926, less than a quarter of the project was complete.  Sagrada Família's construction progressed slowly, as it relied on private donations. Construction passed the midpoint in 2010 with some of the project's greatest challenges remaining and an anticipated completion date of 2026, the centenary of Gaudí's death.  Hope that I get to see it when it is completed.
